PrestaShop Instagram & Facebook: Modules vs Product Posts

PrestaShop Social costs €9.99 a month and syncs your catalog to Meta. It never posts to your Facebook Page or Instagram feed. Here's what does.

Search “PrestaShop Instagram” and you get three different kinds of module mixed together: one that sends your catalog to Meta, a dozen that display your Instagram photos on your storefront, and a handful that post products to social networks. They solve different problems, and most merchants install the wrong one first, then wonder why their Facebook Page is still empty.

This guide sorts them out. It covers the official PrestaShop Social module (what it does and what it doesn’t), Instagram feed modules, auto-post modules, and the route that works for putting actual product posts on your Facebook Page and Instagram feed.

The Three Jobs People Mean by “PrestaShop Instagram”

Before picking a module, decide which job you’re hiring it for:

JobWhat it producesTypical tool
Catalog syncYour products appear in a Meta catalog, usable for Shops, product tags and dynamic adsPrestaShop Social, feed modules
Instagram feed on your storeA grid or slider of your Instagram photos on your PrestaShop homepageInstagram feed display modules
Product posts on your social accountsActual posts in your Facebook Page timeline and Instagram feed that followers seeAuto-post modules, schedulers, or you by hand

The first two are useful. Neither one puts anything in front of the people who already follow you. That’s the third job, and it’s the one that keeps a store’s social accounts looking alive.

PrestaShop Social with Facebook & Instagram: What It Actually Does

The official module is PrestaShop Social with Facebook & Instagram, maintained by PrestaShop itself (the source is public on GitHub as PrestaShopCorp/ps_facebook, and it was still getting releases in August 2026). It’s part of the PrestaShop Essentials lineup.

As of September 2026, per PrestaShop’s product page:

  • Price: €9.99 a month (excluding VAT), no commitment, with a 14-day trial. A paid subscription has been required since 16 November 2023.
  • Compatibility: PrestaShop 1.7.1 and later. It doesn’t support 1.6.
  • Catalog sync: exports your active products to a Meta catalog and keeps them updated daily. PrestaShop’s help center notes the first export runs at 1 AM GMT after you click “Share my catalog”.
  • Meta Pixel and Conversions API: tracking for ads and audiences.
  • Ads: helps you create product ads from the synced catalog.

What’s missing from that list is the thing most people expect: it doesn’t publish organic posts. Syncing a catalog to Meta puts your products in Commerce Manager. It doesn’t create a post on your Page, and nobody scrolling their feed sees anything new.

It’s still worth installing if you run Meta ads or want an Instagram/Facebook Shop. Dynamic product ads need a catalog and a pixel, and doing that by hand is miserable. Just know that it’s an ads and catalog tool, not a posting tool.

A note on Facebook and Instagram Shops in 2026

If the reason you want catalog sync is “checkout on Instagram”, that’s gone. Meta phased out onsite checkout on Facebook and Instagram Shops between June and August 2025. Shoppers can still browse a Shop in the app, but every purchase now finishes on your own website through the checkout URL you set in Commerce Manager. A Shop is now a browsable catalog that sends people to PrestaShop. That’s still useful, just not the in-app sale some older guides promise.

Instagram Feed Modules: Display, Not Posting

The PrestaShop Addons marketplace has plenty of Instagram feed modules, plus free ones from PrestaHero, Comonsoft and Elfsight. They pull your latest Instagram posts and show them as a grid or slider on your store, and some make that gallery “shoppable” by linking photos to product pages.

Two things to check before installing one:

  1. Which Instagram API it uses. Meta shut down the Instagram Basic Display API on 4 December 2024. Modules that relied on it stopped updating. Pick one that says it uses the newer Instagram API (with Instagram Login or the Graph API). Listings on Addons often say “New API” in the title for exactly this reason.
  2. What it’s for. A feed widget is social proof on your storefront. It works in the opposite direction from what you need to grow followers: it shows Instagram content to people who are already on your site.

If your Instagram feed has nothing new on it, a feed module just displays an empty-looking account more prominently.

PrestaShop Auto-Post Modules

This is the category that actually publishes. A few exist on Addons and from third-party developers:

  • Facebook wall post modules (Knowband sells one) post your products, prices and new arrivals to your Facebook Page automatically.
  • Multi-network auto-post modules push new products to a list of networks on a timer. Read the network list carefully. One listing, “Auto-Post Products to 7 Selected Social Networks”, covers Twitter, LinkedIn, Flickr, Tumblr, Telegram, VKontakte and Odnoklassniki, and neither Facebook nor Instagram.

What to check before buying any of them:

  • Instagram support. Instagram only allows API publishing to professional (Business or Creator) accounts, so a module that “posts to Instagram” needs a proper Meta app connection. Many older modules are Facebook-only.
  • PrestaShop version. Plenty of modules were built for 1.6 or early 1.7 and haven’t been updated for PrestaShop 8 or 9.
  • Captions. Most auto-post modules fill a template: product name, price, link. Fifty posts that all read “New: [Product Name] for [Price]” look like a bot, because they are.
  • Link handling on Facebook. Meta has been testing a cap of two link posts a month for Facebook Pages that don’t pay for Meta One, and expanded it in September 2026. A module that puts the product URL in every Facebook post body could run into it. Check how the module formats posts.

The Manual Route (Free, Slow)

You can do all of this with Meta’s own tools and no module:

  1. Open the product in your PrestaShop front office and save the main product image.
  2. Write a caption: what it is, who it’s for, one concrete detail (material, size, use case), and a nudge to shop. Our guide to writing product captions that sell has templates.
  3. Schedule it in Meta Business Suite for your Page and Instagram account.
  4. Repeat for the next product.

It costs nothing and gives you full control. It also takes 10 to 15 minutes per product once you count finding the photo and writing something decent, which is why most stores post for two weeks and stop.

The URL-Based Route: Post From Your Product Pages

The other way to automate this skips the PrestaShop module layer entirely. Every PrestaShop product has a public product page with a photo, a name, a price and a description. That page is enough to build a post from.

That’s how LzyPost works. It doesn’t install anything in PrestaShop. You paste a product URL, it pulls the product photos from the page, writes a caption in the style you pick, and you review, edit or approve it. Approved posts publish to your Facebook Page and Instagram business or creator account on the days you picked in your posting schedule. You can queue posts days, weeks or months ahead.

Honest limits, up front:

  • Facebook Pages and Instagram business or creator accounts only. No TikTok, Pinterest, X or LinkedIn. Several product photos go out as a multi-photo post on Facebook and a carousel on Instagram (up to 10 images), and videos you upload post as Reels. No Stories.
  • You paste the URLs. There’s no catalog sync and no “auto-post every new product” trigger. You pick which products go out.
  • It doesn’t replace PrestaShop Social. If you run dynamic ads or want a Meta Shop, you still need a catalog sync.
  • Facebook posts include the product link. LzyPost puts the product URL in the body of every Facebook post, so if your Page is in Meta’s link-cap test, each one counts toward your monthly allowance (2 without Meta One). Capped stores can save LzyPost’s Facebook posts for launches, sales and best sellers and put more volume on Instagram.

Because it only needs a URL, it doesn’t care which PrestaShop version you run or which theme you use. The PrestaShop to Instagram scheduler and PrestaShop to Facebook scheduler pages walk through the setup for each network. The same approach works on other platforms. We covered the WooCommerce side in our WooCommerce social auto-posting guide and Magento in Magento 2 Instagram and Facebook product posts.

Which Setup Should You Run?

Your situationUse this
You run Meta ads or want a Facebook/Instagram ShopPrestaShop Social (€9.99/mo) for catalog, pixel and CAPI
You want Instagram photos on your storefrontA feed module that uses the current Instagram API
You post rarely and like writing captions yourselfMeta Business Suite, free
You want regular product posts on FB and IG without writing each captionA URL-based scheduler like LzyPost, alongside PrestaShop Social if you advertise
You need TikTok, Pinterest or LinkedIn tooA multi-network tool. LzyPost doesn’t cover those

Most stores that advertise end up with two tools: PrestaShop Social for the catalog side and something else for the posting side. They don’t overlap.

The Bottom Line

PrestaShop Social is a good catalog and ads module that gets mistaken for a posting module. Feed modules decorate your storefront. Neither fills your Facebook Page or Instagram feed. For that, you either write posts by hand in Meta Business Suite or use a tool that turns your product pages into posts.

If writing a caption and saving a photo for every product is the bottleneck, automate your store’s Facebook and Instagram posts with LzyPost. It’s $30/month flat for 2 pages ($60 for 10), and you can cancel anytime.

FAQ

Does PrestaShop Social post products to my Facebook Page?

No. As of September 2026, PrestaShop Social with Facebook & Instagram syncs your catalog to Meta, installs the Meta Pixel and Conversions API, and helps you run product ads. It doesn’t publish organic posts to your Page timeline or Instagram feed.

How much is the PrestaShop Facebook module?

PrestaShop Social costs €9.99 per month excluding VAT, with no commitment and a 14-day trial, per PrestaShop’s product page as of September 2026. It’s been a paid subscription since 16 November 2023.

Why did my PrestaShop Instagram feed stop updating?

Most likely because the module used Meta’s Instagram Basic Display API, which Meta shut down on 4 December 2024. Update the module or switch to one built on the current Instagram API, and reconnect your account.

Can I sell on Instagram directly from PrestaShop?

You can list products in a Facebook or Instagram Shop through a synced catalog, but checkout happens on your PrestaShop site. Meta phased out onsite checkout for Shops in mid-2025, so shoppers who tap a product are sent to your store to pay.

Do I need a module to post PrestaShop products to Instagram?

No. You can post by hand through Meta Business Suite, or use a URL-based tool that reads your public product pages. Either way, Instagram requires a professional (Business or Creator) account for third-party posting. Since March 2026, any public account can schedule posts in the Instagram app itself.
