Buffer Alternative for Ecommerce Stores (2026)

Buffer is cheap and well built, but it only schedules what you write. For a store with 200 products, the writing is the job. Here are the alternatives by what you actually need.

Most people looking for a Buffer alternative aren’t unhappy with Buffer’s price. As of September 2026 it’s one of the cheapest schedulers around, starting at $5 per channel per month, with a no-cost plan for 3 channels. The usual complaint from store owners is different: Buffer publishes posts beautifully, but you still have to make every one of them. When your “content” is 200 products that each need a photo and a caption, scheduling was never the hard part.

This post covers what Buffer costs and does well right now, when you should stay with it, and the alternatives sorted by the problem you’re trying to solve.

A disclosure before we start: I built LzyPost, one of the alternatives below. It posts to Facebook and Instagram only. No TikTok, Pinterest, X or LinkedIn. If you need those networks, it’s the wrong tool, and I’ll say where Buffer or another option is the better pick.

Buffer pricing in 2026

From Buffer’s pricing page as of September 2026:

PlanPriceWhat you get
Free$0Up to 3 channels, 10 scheduled posts per channel, 1 user
EssentialsFrom $5 per channel per month ($60 per channel billed yearly)Unlimited scheduled posts, AI Assistant, community inbox, analytics, 1 user
TeamFrom $10 per channel per month ($120 per channel billed yearly)Everything in Essentials plus unlimited users and approval workflows

Paid plans come with a 14-day trial. A “channel” is one account on one network, so a store with a Facebook Page and an Instagram account pays for 2 channels: about $120 a year on Essentials with annual billing.

Buffer supports Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, Threads, Pinterest, Google Business Profile, Bluesky and Mastodon. That network list, the price, and a clean interface are why it’s the default recommendation for small businesses, including in our own Hootsuite alternative guide.

Where Buffer falls short for stores

Buffer has no idea what a product is. It doesn’t read your store, pull product photos, or know a price from a hashtag. Its AI Assistant helps you draft or rewrite a caption you’re already working on, but the workflow is still: open the product page, save the photo, write something, upload, pick a time. Repeat 200 times.

For a store, that shows up in three ways:

  • Time per post stays the same. Buffer makes publishing faster; it doesn’t make creating faster.
  • The queue runs dry. A weekend of batching gets you two weeks of posts. Then it’s empty again, and a busy month means the Page goes quiet.
  • Paying for networks you don’t use. If Meta is where your customers are, Buffer’s 11 networks don’t matter to you.

None of this is a flaw in Buffer. It’s a general-purpose scheduler doing what it’s designed to do. The question is whether scheduling is your bottleneck.

Buffer alternatives by what you need

If you want to spend nothing: Meta Business Suite

Meta Business Suite schedules posts to your Facebook Page and Instagram account at no cost, directly inside Meta’s tools. There’s no per-channel pricing. You write and upload everything yourself, just like Buffer, and it only covers Facebook and Instagram.

If your only reason for Buffer’s paid plan was scheduling beyond 10 posts on Facebook and Instagram, this may be all you need. Scheduling there versus in a third-party app makes no difference to reach; Instagram’s head has said scheduling doesn’t affect it either way.

If your feed’s look matters: Later

Later’s visual grid planner is its selling point. As of September 2026, the Starter plan is $25/month ($18.75/month billed annually) for 1 social set (up to 8 profiles across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Snapchat) and 30 posts per profile per month. Growth is $50/month, Scale is $110/month, and each has a 14-day trial. Like Buffer, you create all the content. Our Later alternative for online stores covers where it fits.

If you want posts generated from your catalog across many networks: Outfy

Outfy connects to your store and generates product posts, collages and videos. As of September 2026, its pricing page lists a no-cost plan (1 auto-created product post per day on 2 networks), Essential at $25/month, Growth at $45/month and Unlimited at $55/month (all shown with introductory discounts at the time of writing), and a 7-day trial on paid plans. Higher tiers add AI video credits and more accounts per network. It attacks the creation problem, which Buffer doesn’t, with more settings to learn. If you want product posts written for you on Facebook and Instagram: LzyPost

LzyPost is built for one job: posting store products to Facebook Pages and Instagram business or creator accounts linked to a Facebook Page. You connect your accounts and set a schedule, paste product URLs, and the AI pulls the product photos and writes the caption in the style you pick (Casual, Sales push, Elegant or Informative). You review, edit or approve each post, and approved posts publish on the days you picked.

It works from product URLs, so any store with product pages works: Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento, or an Etsy listing URL. There’s no catalog sync; you choose which products go in by pasting their links.

How it formats Facebook posts: the product link goes in the body of every Facebook post, and there’s no option to leave it out or move it to a comment. If your Page is in Meta’s expanding test that caps Pages without a Meta One subscription at two link posts a month, each LzyPost Facebook post counts toward that. Stores in the test tend to put most of their LzyPost volume on Instagram (where the bio link is the path to buy) and keep Facebook posts for launches, sales and restocks. Details in the Facebook link post limit for online stores.

Pricing: Basic is $30/month for 2 Facebook or Instagram pages, Pro is $60/month for 10, with unlimited posts on both. Yearly billing is $180 (Basic) or $360 (Pro). There’s no free plan and no trial; you can cancel anytime.

What it isn’t: a multi-network scheduler, a shared inbox or an analytics suite. Its plans cover unlimited posts, AI-written content and the auto-post scheduler, for Facebook and Instagram only. If you need Buffer’s community inbox or analytics, that’s a reason to stay.

Who should stay on Buffer

Stay with Buffer if any of these fit:

  • You post to networks beyond Meta. TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky: Buffer covers them for a few dollars each.
  • You already write your own content and like doing it. Buffer’s low price and simple queue are hard to beat.
  • You need a shared inbox or approvals. Essentials includes a community inbox; Team adds approval workflows.
  • You post lightly. If 10 scheduled posts per channel is enough, Buffer’s no-cost plan works.

Who should switch

Switch if your Facebook and Instagram go quiet because each post takes 10 minutes to make, and those two networks are where your buyers are. In that case, a scheduler that costs $10 a month but leaves the creating to you isn’t saving much. If writing a caption and saving a photo for every product is the bottleneck, LzyPost does that part: paste a product URL, it pulls the photo, writes the caption, and posts to your Facebook Page and Instagram on the schedule you set.

The bottom line

Buffer is a great scheduler at a fair price, and for multi-network posting it’s still my first recommendation. It just doesn’t create anything. If you want to spend nothing, use Meta Business Suite. If you want generated posts on many networks, try Outfy. If Facebook and Instagram are where your customers are and product captions are the chore, automate your store’s Facebook and Instagram posts with LzyPost. It’s $30/month flat for 2 pages ($60 for 10), and you can cancel anytime.

FAQ

What is the best Buffer alternative for ecommerce?

It depends on the bottleneck. If you only need scheduling on Facebook and Instagram, Meta Business Suite costs nothing. If you want posts created from your products across many networks, Outfy. If you want product posts written from URLs and published to Facebook and Instagram only, LzyPost at $30/month.

Is there anything cheaper than Buffer?

Meta Business Suite, which schedules to Facebook and Instagram at no cost. Among paid multi-network tools, Buffer’s Essentials plan, from $5 per channel per month as of September 2026, is already one of the cheapest.

Does Buffer create posts from my Shopify products?

No. Buffer doesn’t connect to your store or read your products. Its AI Assistant helps draft captions, but you supply the photo, the product details and the post. Tools like Outfy (store connection) or LzyPost (pasted product URLs) create the post for you.

How much does Buffer cost for Facebook and Instagram?

As of September 2026, Buffer’s Essentials plan is priced per channel, from $5 per channel per month, or $60 per channel billed yearly. Facebook plus Instagram is 2 channels, about $120 a year on annual billing. The no-cost plan covers 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts each.

Can LzyPost replace Buffer?

Only if you post to Facebook and Instagram alone. LzyPost doesn’t support other networks, and it isn’t sold as an inbox or analytics tool. If Meta is your whole social strategy and writing product captions is the time sink, it replaces Buffer and the writing work.
